Lake Como Proposal Photographer & Planner
You bring the ring. I’ll take care of the rest
You Have the Ring. Now What?
You want to propose to your partner on Lake Como. Maybe you’re already planning the trip, but you’ve never actually been there.
So how do you find a photographer you can trust with a moment like this? A videographer who actually knows how to capture it, not just show up with a camera? How do you make sure the villa doesn’t fall through, the boat arrives on time (and it’s the right boat), the flowers are fresh and waiting exactly when they should be?
And how does all of it come together as one day, instead of five separate things you’re hoping will somehow line up?
You’re in the right place!
I’m Maria Anistratova, a Lake Como photographer and proposal planner. I make sure every piece, the photographer, the videographer, the villa, the boat, the flowers, works as one connected day instead of a list of separate bookings you’re managing from another country.
From the very first idea to the smallest detail, all the way to the moment you ask and hear yes, I plan it, coordinate it and photograph it.
You bring the ring. I’ll take care of the rest.

You Don’t Need to Have a Plan
Maybe you already have an idea. A boat, a villa, a photo you saved months ago and never showed anyone.
Or maybe all you have is a date and a ring, and no idea where to even start.
Either way, that’s enough.
If you have a reference or a Pinterest board full of ideas, I’ll help you turn it into something real, adapted to Lake Como and to the two of you. And if you have nothing but the intention to propose, I’ll bring you options built around what usually works best here: the light, the timing, the setting.
You don’t need a plan. You just need to say yes to the idea!
What Your Lake Como Proposal Could Look Like
Every proposal here looks different, because every couple is different. Here are a few ways it usually comes together

The Boat Proposal
On the water, just the two of you, with Lake Como and the mountains as the backdrop. Simple, private, and quietly dramatic.

The Villa Proposal
A private terrace or garden, dressed the way you imagine it. Villa del Balbianello, Villa Monastero and Villa Melzi are among the most requested, each with its own light, its own view, and its own feel. More space, more detail, more time to make it feel like your own.

Villa + Boat
Arrive by boat, propose on the villa grounds. Two settings, one story.

Flowers & Décor
Flowers, candles, a single arch, whatever fits the two of you. Not staged for a magazine, just enough to make the moment feel intentional

Fully Custom
You already have an idea, a place, a memory, a reference you can’t stop thinking about. Tell me what it is, and we’ll build the whole scenario around it.
This is just the starting point. Your proposal doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s
Why a Photographer Who Also Plans?
You could try to plan this yourself. Research villas, message boat companies in a language you don’t speak, guess at prices, hope the weather cooperates, and somehow keep it all secret at the same time.
Or you could hand it to someone who already thinks in frames, not just checklists.
Every villa I suggest, every boat, every hour of timing, I’m picturing it through a camera before I ever picture it as a booking. That’s the difference between a planner who happens to also shoot, and a photographer who plans your day around how it will actually look and feel in the photos you’ll have forever.
Your emotions on that day matter most to me. But right behind that, I want the photos and video to be something you both keep looking at for the rest of your lives, not just proof it happened, but something genuinely beautiful.
Remember the moment they said yes, and have the photos to prove how beautiful it really was.
One Point of Contact. Everything Taken Care Of.
Here’s what planning actually means in practice: you don’t talk to vendors. You talk to me.
I handle the villa, the boat, the route and timing, the florist, the décor, the musicians, the restaurant, the transfers, and the photo and video production. All of it moves through one person, coordinated as a single scenario instead of a dozen separate bookings.
But it’s not just about making calls and booking things. I plan the actual flow of your day: when you leave the hotel, how you get to the first location, how long each part takes, when the boat arrives, when dinner starts, how you get back. Every hour of it is worked out in advance, so nothing feels rushed and nothing gets left to chance.
You still make the decisions. You confirm what you like, the boat, the villa, the flowers, and pay the vendors directly, based on my instructions. But you’re never the one chasing confirmations, checking timing, or wondering if the boat company got back to someone.
How It Works
01. Inquiry
You tell me your date, your idea (or the lack of one), your budget, and any references you have.
02. Proposal Options
I put together a few scenarios that fit what you’re picturing, each with a realistic budget estimate.
03. Booking
You choose the option that feels right and secure it with a deposit.
04. Planning & Production
I confirm the villa’s availability, work out the timing, book the boat, bring in the right vendors, arrange the flowers and décor, and organize transfers.
05. Final Scenario
You get the full timing, clear instructions for the day, and, if you need one, a cover story for your partner.
06. The Question
The day arrives. Everything is already in place. All you have to do is ask.
Get My Custom Quote
Tell me your idea, your approximate dates, and what matters most to you, whether it’s a specific villa, a boat, or just capturing the moment perfectly. I’ll get back to you with realistic options and a clear estimate.
On the Day, You Only Have One Job
No calls to the boat company. No checking if the flowers arrived. No last-minute confirmations, no wondering if everything’s where it should be.
By the time the day comes, all of that is already done. Your only job is this: ask the question.
Keeping It a Surprise
One of the biggest questions couples have is simple: how do I keep them from finding out?
We figure that out together. A believable reason for the trip, a cover story that actually holds up, clear instructions on where to be and when, so nothing feels forced or out of character on the day. Your partner should only ever see two things: a beautiful day on Lake Como, and you, asking the question.
Planned & Captured as One Experience
Planning and photography usually come from two different people who’ve never spoken to each other. That’s how you end up with a beautiful location and an awkward angle, or perfect light that nobody was positioned for.
Here, it’s the same person doing both. Every scenario is built with the camera already in mind: where the light will be at that hour, how the boat should be angled, where you should stand so the mountains are behind you instead of cut off at the edge of the frame. The planning isn’t separate from the photography. It’s the same decision, made once.
A Timeless, Editorial Approach
I shoot the way I’d want my own proposal remembered: timeless, editorial, clean. No heavy filters, no trends that will look dated in five years. Just true color, real light, and a frame that still feels elegant when you look back at it decades from now.
Lake Como gives you extraordinary light, but only if you know where to be and when. Golden hour on the water behaves differently than golden hour on a terrace. I’ve spent four seasons learning exactly how the light moves across the lake, hour by hour, season by season, so every frame looks intentional and never accidental.
Why Trust Me With This
I’ve spent four seasons photographing and planning proposals on Lake Como, which mostly means I’ve made the mistakes so you don’t have to.
I know which villas actually allow proposals and which just look like they do in photos. I know which boats are reliable and which ones cancel if the wind picks up. I know how long it really takes to get from one side of the lake to the other, not the number Google Maps gives you. I know the light at every hour, on every part of the lake, and where a permit is needed even if no one tells you upfront.
But knowing the lake is only half of it. I’ve spent those same four seasons behind the camera, learning how to read a moment as it happens, when to stay back and when to move, how to catch a real reaction instead of a posed one. A proposal only happens once. There’s no second take if the framing is off or the moment gets missed.
I don’t just know where Lake Como looks beautiful. I know how to be in the right place, at the right second, to capture it.

FAQ: Everything You’re Probably Wondering About a Lake Como Proposal
When should I book my Lake Como proposal?
As early as you can, especially if you’re set on a specific season or a particular villa, like Villa del Balbianello or Villa Monastero. That said, if your date is coming up fast, tell me anyway. I’ve pulled off proposals with only a few weeks' notice.
What if it rains on Lake Como?
Lake Como has options for that too. Most scenarios have a backup plan built in from the start, whether that’s a covered terrace, a shift in timing, or an indoor alternative that still feels intentional.
Can I show you a Pinterest photo and just get that?
You can, and often that’s exactly where we start. I’ll tell you honestly what’s realistic to recreate here and adjust the parts that need adjusting.
I don’t know the name of the villa I want, I just have a photo. What do I do?
Send it over. Most people find a photo online or on Pinterest and have no idea where it was taken, whether it’s Villa del Balbianello, Villa Monastero, Villa Cipressi, Villa Melzi, Villa Carlotta or somewhere else entirely on the lake. Send me the picture and I’ll tell you which villa it is, whether it’s available for proposals, and what it would take to recreate it.
How much does a Lake Como proposal cost?
Packages start from €450. The final price depends on the scenario, the villa, the boat and the extras you choose. Once we talk through your idea, I’ll give you a clear, realistic estimate before you commit to anything.
What’s included in the photo and video?
That depends on the package you choose for your proposal. You can see the packages on my site, and once we start working out your budget, I’ll send you all the details in full.
What happens after the proposal?
From there, we follow the plan we’ve already agreed on. That might mean continuing the shoot, heading out for a tour of the lake, or going straight to dinner, depending on what you’ve planned. Your photos and video arrive within the timeframe we agreed on beforehand.
Do I pay you or the vendors?
You pay each vendor directly for their services. I provide you with all the payment details you need to do that. My fee covers the planning, coordination, and photography itself.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my Lake Como proposal?
Life happens. Let me know as soon as you can, and we’ll figure out the best path forward based on how far out we are and what’s already been booked.
What if I already have everything organized and just need a photographer for my Lake Como proposal?
That’s not a problem at all. Send me an inquiry and I’ll get you pricing for photo and video coverage on its own
